Who am I?
Hey there. I am Sudipto (Sudo). I am a software engineer by trade. I am a musician, photographer and painter when I’m not designing systems or writing code.
This is my little digital garden in the seemingly unending vastness of the Internet.
Tech
I have been reading, writing, breathing code since 2002, starting with Internet Explorer, Javascript and a tiny little aquarium demo. Since then, I’ve explored, researched and pondered in over 14 languages and God knows how many lines of code. I eventually went ahead with starting a career with software engineering in 2010.
Nowadays, I do more systems design and framework implementation, but there’s a few side projects as well. On the weekends I have some free time (which is increasingly rarer every year now), I dabble with AI/ML, both generative and finance related reinforced learning.
Photography
I started my journey with photography back in 2004. There was a vocational subject in school, and I chose photography, after a couple of months of doing Karate (yes, I can hold my own in a fistfight) when the Photography teacher was finally hired. My dad got me my first camera that year, a Kodak KB10, which I shot on with Kodak 100 ISO B&W and Kodak Max 400 film reels. There was a couple of sessions of developing the negatives at the time, but the world was changing fast, and I eventually moved to digital with Dad’s Canon PowerShot A1100 IS in 2010.
Then I got my first DSLR in 2014 with my Roommate’s Credit card. The journey’s seen its ups and downs (mostly downs now), but I try posting stuff as much as I can.
My current gear includes the ol’ Nikon D3200 and my Samsung S23 Ultra.

Music
My music journey started young. I remember Dad getting a cassette of Dil To Pagal Hai in 1997, and me singing along to the songs on his Tape recorder. In 2003, he got a mix tape with Shakira, Britney, Enrique and Baha Men. That was an eye opener for me, proving once and for all, that I wasn’t good at English, or at least understanding accents, even though WWE was okay.
In 2002, there was a singing audition at school for the school’s annual day. I auditioned and my Math teacher told me that I had a nice voice, but I didn’t make the cut. I didn’t care that I didn’t make the cut. I was good at singing, and that got me hooked even more.
In 2006, I got in college, and made a friend in the dorm, who used to be in a Rock band in his school, and hence began my journey with Rock and Metal. I eventually gathered a team and made a metal band. We christened it Nurvs of Steel. There were a lot of trials and tribulations, countless hours spent in trains going back and forth to and from my job to college so we could keep the band going.
We did eventually release a 3 song EP in 2015, not that we made the impact we were hoping to, but we tried, and that would have to be enough… for now.

Painting
I’m sure I used to scribble around like most kids at the time (or even now for that matter), but my first memory of a serious hours long effort to paint something was in either 1998 or 99. I drew a Goku style painting, probably not of Goku though.
In 2001, at my behest, mom got me in a drawing school, and that accelerated my interest in the domain further. I eventually finished 3rd year from the school before moving from Calcutta. I’ve been painting on and off since then.
Fast forward to the Covid 19 pandemic, I started a Youtube channel trying to build on my hobby. Not that I could make the time after a while though, but the channel is still up: Sudipto Art Studio
